Final results IFSC World Cup Boulder Eindhoven 2009

June 14th 2009 - No Comments »

The climbers are slowly arriving at Monk Bouldergym for the attempt at the World Record Dyno planned for this afternoon or as soon as the rain stops. The crowd went wild yesterday during the spectacular finals and the legendary Monk party afterwards. We are still trying clear our heads and are thankful Adwin Timmer of climbing.nl managed to type the following post at 4 o’clock this morning. Here’s a translation;

The last Boulder World cup of the season in Eindhoven exceeded all expectations. This is not something we proclaim, but the words of the male winner of the World Cup competition; “This was the fourth time I became overall winner of the World cup season, but it’s the first time it felt exceptional. The reason for this was the enthusiasm of the more than 1000 spectators and the extremely skilled organisation. Head route setter Reini Fichtinger announced that he had never encountered a competition with such expertly build boulders. Erica Terpstra, chair(wo)man of the NOC*NSF was so excited about the finals she promptly declared bouldering should be an Olympic sport in her onstage speech. NKBV chairman Frits Vrijlandt promised the roaring crowd there would be another World Cup in Eindhoven next year. The after-party rocked until the early hours and we let it be known that everyone not present really missed out. Oh yes, we also have the results for you.

The World cup Eindhoven and overall World cup competition male winner was Kilian Fischhuber from Austria. The female climber who took gold in Eindhoven and the overall World Cup competition was Japanese Akiyo Noguchi. The Netherlands took 9th place in the team ranking and 12th place in the final ranking of the World cup.
